Day 1 - Thursday: USA to SHANGHAI
Fly transpacific aboard United Airlines, bound for Shanghai
Day 2 - Friday: ARRIVE SHANGHAI
Upon Arrival in Shanghai, you are met by your professional U.S. Tour Director and escorted to the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai.
Day 3 - Saturday: SHANGHAI
Sightseeing introduces the Urban Planning Exhibition Center showing the old and new Shanghai and a peek into exciting future development, and the Shanghai Museum with its remarkable dynastic cultural artifacts. Continue on to the Jade Buddha Temple, the fabled Bund and see a performance at the Children's Palace. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner party with a glass of wine.
Day 4 - Sunday: SHANGHAI to SUZHOU to SHANGHAI
This morning, drive to charming Suzhou*, noted for its ancient gardens. Tour Pan Men City Gate, North Temple Pagoda, Garden of the Master of Fishing Net, the Embroidery Research Institute and a silk spinning mill. Return to Shanghai and enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel.
*Travel to Suzhou by train if tour group is less than 6 tour members.
Day 5 - Monday: SHANGHAI
Today, explore Shanghai's emporiums at Nanjing or Huai Hai Road's popular shops, then visit a carpet factory. After lunch, our shopping tour takes you to Xiangyang Market. Or, you may wish to join an optional excursion (see below). Tonight, with seats reserved in the front section, enjoy an astonishing performance of the famed Shanghai Acrobats.
Day 6 - Tuesday: SHANGHAI to BEIJING
After breakfast, fly to Beijing. Check in to the Grand Hyatt Beijing at Oriental Plaza. This afternoon, a pedicab ride takes you through the Hutong district's ancient narrow streets. Visit Gu Lou (Drum Tower) and enjoy city views.
Day 7 - Wednesday: BEIJING
After breakfast, sightseeing includes impressive Tian An Men Square and the Imperial Palace in the once Forbidden City. Ming Dynasty extravagance is on display with tours of the living quarters, museum and jewelry sections. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace where you cruise on the placid waters of Lake Kunming (weather permitting).
Day 8 - Thursday: BEIJING
Today highlights the amazing wonders of the Great Wall. Enjoy lunch in a unique mountain setting. Continue on to visit a cloisonne factory where you may observe the skilled artisans. This evening, you are invited to a delightful dinner party featuring Beijing Duck, followed by an entertaining and energetic show, "The Legend of Kung Fu", with great seats in the front section.
Day 9 - Friday: BEIJING to XI'AN
Morning at leisure in Beijing for last minute exploring. After lunch, fly to historic Xi'an. Check in to the deluxe Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel.
Day 10 - Saturday: XI'AN
Visit the famed life-sized terra-cotta legion of warriors, buried with the emperor for over 2200 years; Circle Vision Movie, the Bronze Chariot. Lunch in a private dining room at the Terra-Cotta Museum includes a special hand-made noodle-making demonstration. Later, visit the renowned Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum. Tonight, from your front section seats, enjoy an entertaining dinner show at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.
Day 11 - Sunday: XI'AN to GUILAN
The morning is free to explore Xi'an's local markets and visit the historic City Wall. Lunch is served in a private dining room at Defachang Restaurant, renowned for it's delicious dumpling feasts. Later, fly to Guilin where the Li River and spectacular peaks have inspired artists for centuries. Check in to a riverside room at the deluxe Sheraton Guilin Hotel. Enjoy dinner in the hotel tonight.
Day 12 - Monday: GUILIN
Today brings a delightful cruise on the upper deck of a deluxe air-conditioned boat along the scenic Li River. Cruise past a breathtaking landscape of dramatic peaks to the market town of Yangshuo, where you've time to browse.
Day 13 - Tuesday: GUILIN to HONG KONG
Morning sightseeing includes Reed Flute Cave and Fu Bo Hill's dramatic rock formations, followed by a lunch of dim sum specialities. Later in the day, a change of pace as you fly to vibrant Hong Kong. Check in to a harbor view room at the Hotel InterContinental Hong Kong.
Day 14 - Wednesday: HONG KONG
Today we show off this dynamic city. A circuit of Hong Kong Island passes thru Stanley Market, fashionable Repulse Bay and the floating sampan community at Aberdeen. Then a ride to the summit of Victoria Peak affords dramatic views of the city and it's harbor.
Day 15 - Thursday: HONG KONG
The day is free to follow your own pursuits - perhaps indulge in some last-minute shopping or choose one of our optional tours (see below). This evening, join us for a farewell dinner party.
Day 16 - Friday: HONG KONG to USA
Bid farewell to China as you fly home on United Airlines.
