Depart anytime thru December 10, 2010 on your Ecotourism Adventure package and enjoy Eco destinations in Costa Rica: Monteverde & Arenal.
DAY 1 – Arrival in San Jose Airport (SJO). (Airfare not included)
Please arrange for a local taxi to your 3 * Resort. (only a few approximate fee $12.00). Check in at the Adventure Inn Hotel, a modern Costa Rican hotel bed and breakfast inn, is in the prestigious, clean, and safe neighborhood of Ciudad Cariari, surrounded by green blanketed mountains on the outskirts of bustling San Jose only ten minutes from the international airport. The area offers wonderful peaceful walks through the parks, around the duck ponds, along the golf courses, and further along is the large new Cariari Mall and Cineplex theatre. There are large, posh hotels nearby with casinos, and entertainment venues. Bustling San Jose, with its Central Market, promenade shopping street, museums, zoo, business district, and exciting nightlife zone is about ten minutes away by car, taxi or public bus.
DAY 2 – San Jose - Monteverde
Meal: Breakfast.
After a delicious and extensive buffet breakfast, your 4 x 4 manual transmission vehicle will be waiting for you around 9:30AM and you will be on your way to Monteverde (directions will be provided or you may rent a GPS for an additional cost). Check in at the 3* Hotel Poco a Poco, new hotel with restaurant, heated pool and Jacuzzi, as well as a bar and great accommodations in a beautiful and peaceful location, close by to Monteverde downtown.
DAY 3 – Monteverde
Meal: Breakfast
Spend a full day at leisure or optional tours proposed (rates are per person and subject to change):
• Guided tour of Monteverde National Park with pro-ecoguide (Entrance fee included) / Transfer not included: $59.00
• Hanging Bridges (Entrance fee & Transfers included): $42.00
DAY 4 – Monteverde - Arenal
Meal: Breakfast
After breakfast, you will be on your way to Arenal, approx, 3 1/2 hours drive. The Arenal Volcano is the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active, producing huge ash columns, explosions & glowing red lava almost every day. Check in at the 4* Hotel Arenal Springs or similar hotel.
DAY 5 – Arenal
Meal: Beakfast
Spend a full day at leisure or optional tours proposed (rates are per person and subject to change):
• Boat ride at Can Negro Wildlife Refuge with professional eco-guides and transfers included. The boat tour be cruising on the Rio Frio (Cold River) showing all the wildlife of Caño Negro National park wildlife refuge (Caymans, all kind of birds, monkeys, etc.). Don’t forget your camera! $55.00
DAY 6 – Arenal Volcano
Meal:Breakfast
Spend a full day at leisure or optional tours proposed (rates are per person and subject to change):
• Guided hike to Arenal Volcano. You will be closer and have a better view of this majestic volcano. Your guide will explain all about the phenomenal and impressive volcano. The hike does not require high fitness level, it is very accessible through the National park (Entrance fees included) - $32.00
DAY 7 – Arenal - La Fortuna
Meal: Breakfast.
Spend a full day at leisure or optional tours proposed (rates are per person and subject to change):
• Guided Horseback riding to La Fortuna Waterfall with transfers & National Park fees included. Hike down the gorgeous path to this incredible and so romantic waterfall of La Fortuna. -$55.00
DAY 8 – Arenal - San Jose.
Breakfast and en route to San Jose airport where you will be dropping off your 4 x 4 and catching your flight back home.
IMPORTANT: Depart Arenal at least 5 hours prior to your flight departure time. The drive is pleasant but it will take you approx. 2 ½ hours, so please DO NOT book a flight ticket which is leaving San Jose airport early in the morning, but more late in the afternoon or even better in the evening in order to have plenty time to drive back and return the rental car at the same time you picked it up at the rental car office. The minimum airport check-in is 2 hours prior to your flight.
OPTION: You do not want to stress over? You want to enjoy the views and taking your time to drive to San Jose? We are giving our clients the option to purchase a “special extension” in order for you to spend an extra night in our 3* Hotel in San Jose, close by the airport, breakfast and tax included at $95.00 per extra night.
