The Alden Houston hotel is located in the center of Houston, Texas', central business area and within walking distance of the theater district, George R. Brown Convention Center, Minute Maid Ballpark and the light rail system connecting, travelers to local nightlife and restaurants. The hotel is also within 11 miles of the Houston Hobby Airport. Originally opening in 1924 as a luxury boutique hotel, today the Alden Houston's minimalist lobby features whimsical light fixtures shaped like the San Jacinto Monument and a backlit glass wall mural depicting the Battle of San Jacinto. Award-winning 17 Restaurant on site serves distinctive American cuisine by Chef Ryan Pera, along with a selection of domestic and international wines. Special meetings and events hosted in the hotel include use of indoor and outdoor function space.
