Itinerary Map
Ports of Call
Miami, FloridaMiami is an international mecca with a colorful skyline and trend-setting culture. Claiming its place as a truly international city, you can feel Miami vibrate with the energies of different cultures coming together to revel in the beautiful ocean scenery and near-perfect tropical weather. Whether you're taking in the sights at a South Beach cafe, browsing the open-air shops of Bayside Marketplace or enjoying "un cortadito" in Little Havana, Miami is a melting pot for virtually anyone.
Atlantic Ocean (Cruising)
Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI
Gustavia, St. Barts
Gustavia, the capital of St. Barts (also known as St. Barths), is a chic and upscale port nestled among a picturesque harbor. Dozens of white sand beaches, soothing lagoons and a lush, green landscape abound on this French West Indies island.
Castries, St. Lucia
Queen Elizabeth once visited Castries, and the St Lucians have never forgotten it. It was for her that they named Queen's Drive - the road around this island that boasts a volcano, riotous botanical gardens and excellent whale-watching opportunities. In town, watch as natives fashion boats from gum trees, write your postcards in a Creole cafe or keep an eye out for exquisite silk-screened fabrics.
Amazon River (Cruising)
Santarem, Brazil
A hub of industry and exports, Santarem offers a glimpse of modern life in the Amazon basin. The nearby Tapajos National Forest is a major source of tropical hardwoods, rubber and Brazil nut trees are everywhere. Tapioca is made locally and the Alter do Chao resort area attracts visitors to its lovely white sand beaches. Whatever else you do, don't miss the chance to go swimming in the Amazon River system!
Boca Da Valeria, Brazil
Boca da Valeria is a quiet Amazon village with houses on stilts and locals who will gladly sell you a few trinkets at a good price. Set on a bend in the mighty river, Boca is a trading point for those living on the banks.
Manaus, Brazil
Accessed by way of the Negro River, Manaus hosts thousands of oceangoing vessels from the Atlantic every year. Amazingly, this essential port city is located 900 miles inland, in the heart of the Amazon rain forest. But while Manaus is well known for exports of rubber, Brazil nuts, oil and jute, the city's true crowning glory is the eclectic, neo-Classical Teatro Amazonas - a beautiful pink and white opera house with a gold tile dome and the last word in dazzling interior detail.
Parintins, Brazil
Cathedrals and churches play a prominent role in the cityscape of Parintins, reflective of the importance of faith in the citizens' lives. The scale is appropriate to a central Amazon River town of only 50,000 - much smaller than the nearby state capital of Manaus. Parintins is located in the river itself, on an island of the same name.
Devil's Island
Devil's Island, off the steamy coast of French Guiana, is famous for being infamous. Although it was once a secluded and inescapable prison island, it is now escapist and tres chic - extremely popular on the South American tourist circuit.
Bridgetown, Barbados
In British Barbados, cricket is the national sport and afternoon tea goes without saying, but it's true blue Caribbean as well, with classic sand beaches, hills carpeted in sugar cane and wild vervet monkeys in the jungle.
Roseau, Dominica
Mountain bike, snorkel, dive or kayak to discover for yourself one of the most ruggedly beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Dominica is home to the noisy Sisserou parrot and a host of tropical flowers - orchids, anthruiums and pink and orange bromeliads.
Virgin Gorda, BVI
It is best known for The Baths, an area where giant boulders made of granite (rare to the Caribbean) are scattered about the beach and in the water. Great hiking opportunities exist at Virgin Gorda Peak National Park, which at it?s highest point provides beautiful views of the island.
Samana, Dominican Republic
The largest city on the peninsula, located approximately 100 miles east of Puerto Plata, is called Santa B?rbara de Saman?, or Samana, for short, and is a port town that overlooks the country's largest bay, Bahia de Samana. The majority of Samana's visitors come for the amazing Humback whale-watching excursions. Other excursions in Samana include walking the Bridge To Nowhere; a visit to Cayo Levantado , or 'Bacardi Island' - the island used in the famous 1970's Bacardi rum commercials; or to Playa Rinc?n, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos
The beautiful Island of Grand Turk is the capital island of the Turks and Caicos. Take the time to explore Cockburn town's wonderful selection of historical buildings including many Bermudian and Colonial style buildings and ruins. The island is also heaven on earth for scuba divers and collectors of beautiful beaches. Secluded coves and mile-long stretches of soft coralline sand define the shore, while a grand reef system of sea cathedrals, coral gardens and schools of colorful tropical fish mesmerize just below the surface.
