Itinerary Map

Ports of Call

Dover (London), England
In Canterbury's medieval cathedral, see where Thomas Becket met his tragic end. Tour on to London, shop in stylish Knightsbridge, hop aboard a double-decker.

Stavanger, Norway
Stroll cobbled lanes in the Old Quarter, restored thanks to North Sea oil money. Feeling fearless? Cruise Lysefjord to sail under Prekestolen (Pulpit Rock), a huge cube that looms 1500 feet above your boat.

Flaam, Norway

Tromso, Norway
Gateway to the Arctic and overhung by lofty snowcapped peaks, it's still a bright and lively place, thanks to the Midnight Sun. Visit the Tromso and Polar Museums for fascinating displays of wildlife and Arctic explorations.

Ny Alesund, Spitsbergen, Norway
Ny Alesund is a coal-mining settlement on Spitsbergen Island, located on the southern shores of Kongsfjorden. This town is now an international research centre and was, most famously, the departure point for the great North Pole expeditions. The air-ship mast of the dirigible Norge, flown by Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile from Ny Alesund to Alaska in 1926, still stands here as a testament to their famous achievement.

Honningsvag, Norway
Here in the Land of the Midnight Sun is the northernmost town in Europe. Tour the tundra where free-roaming reindeer snack on scrubby vegetation and drop a line home with the unusual Nordkapp postmark.

Hellesylt, Norway
Tiny Hellesylt, at the tip of Sunnylvenfjord, is the setting for Ibsen's play, "Brand," which depicts the tragic life of a priest who dies in an avalanche. As if the gorgeous fjord scenery and steep, waterfall-bedecked cliff that towers above the town aren't dramatic enough!

Geiranger, Norway
Geiranger is a picturesque fjord town nestled in a crook of winding, namesake Geirangerfjord. Nearby, the Seven Sisters Waterfall takes a 5,000-foot plunge.

Bergen, Norway
A key member of the medieval Hanseatic League of Merchants, Bergen has had plenty of practice combining commerce with community. In this delightful city, you will find pleasure in the Bryggen waterfront district and marketplace, or travel out of town for some great backcountry hikes. On the shores of Nordnes Lake is Troldhaugen—the historic home of composer Edvard Grieg.
