Ports of Call

Sydney, Australia
First came the Aborigines, 50,000 years ago; then 759 British convicts, followed by a wave of military settlers known as the "Rum Corps." The result? Australia's premier city in a location second to none, with its own brand of devil-may-care sophistication. Make sure you explore the Rocks district where the original settlers lived, see the opera house that is one of the world's great landmarks, and climb (yes, climb) the Sydney Harbor Bridge where, like it or not, you'll throw caution to the wind!

Noumea, New Caledonia
New Caledonia's lush beauty has earned it many names, including "The Island Closest to Paradise" and "The St. Tropez of the Pacific." The poincianas, or flame trees, will color the island with their bright red umbrellas when you visit.

Ouvea (Wadrilla), New Caledonia
Known as "the closest island to paradise", Ouvea is hailed as New Caledonia's finest beach and is one of the Pacific's most exquisite coral atolls. Home to a stunning 25km beach of pristine white sand fronting a turquoise lagoon, the island has a single road and is less than 40 metres wide at some points. Mild weather, friendly people of Melanesian and Polynesian descent, plus stunning seascapes all help to make Ouvea an earthly paradise.

Port Vila, Vanuatu
The substantial dock and port area of Port Vila overlooks a natural harbour. There are beautiful coastal views of the city with its clusters of houses and small scale resorts nestled amongst tropical vegetation makes an attractive scene. The harbour is quite active with fishing boats, yachts and speedboats passing between the various nearby islands. The covered market place is a colourful and interesting place to visit selling handicrafts, fruits and colourful tropical flowers. Port Vila is really just one long street with a few smaller streets intersecting it. The main street Lini Highway has lots of shops some bars and restaurants. Many of the resort hotels with excellent restaurants and bars are easily accessible.

Lautoka, Fiji
The locals call Lautoka the Sugar City, after its primary export. Shopping here on the main street lined with royal palms is a distinctively South Pacific experience, and a wealth of handicraft markets and duty-free stores make it all the more inviting.

Levuka, Ovalu, Fiji

Ile des Pins (Isle of Pines), New Caledonia
