Itinerary Map
Ports of Call
Sydney, AustraliaFirst came the Aborigines, 50,000 years ago; then 759 British convicts, followed by a wave of military settlers known as the "Rum Corps." The result? Australia's premier city in a location second to none, with its own brand of devil-may-care sophistication. Make sure you explore the Rocks district where the original settlers lived, see the opera house that is one of the world's great landmarks, and climb (yes, climb) the Sydney Harbor Bridge where, like it or not, you'll throw caution to the wind!
Ile des Pins (Isle of Pines), New Caledonia
Port Vila, Vanuatu
The substantial dock and port area of Port Vila overlooks a natural harbour. There are beautiful coastal views of the city with its clusters of houses and small scale resorts nestled amongst tropical vegetation makes an attractive scene. The harbour is quite active with fishing boats, yachts and speedboats passing between the various nearby islands. The covered market place is a colourful and interesting place to visit selling handicrafts, fruits and colourful tropical flowers. Port Vila is really just one long street with a few smaller streets intersecting it. The main street Lini Highway has lots of shops some bars and restaurants. Many of the resort hotels with excellent restaurants and bars are easily accessible.
Wala, Vanuatu
The serene island has pristine beaches, forests and is home to 200-300 friendly smiley locals. The unspoilt paradise has no electricity, telephones and roads. The principals means of transport is on foot or by dugout outrigger canoes! Wala is approximately 1 nautical mile from the mainland Malekula which is renowned for its unique cultural heritage and fierce warrior tribes who up to one generation ago were cannibals. The welcome on Wala is a little different to the not so distant past with a custom string band and happy harmonizing voices greeting passengers as they arrive on the island! Being so remote and undeveloped Wala is in cultural and environmental terms one of the most interesting ports of call. The soft coral white beach fringed with palms shelves down to bright turquoise waters and the inky blue of the deep channel dividing the island from the mainland. Dugouts ply the foreshore and the snorkelling is excellent.
Champagne Bay, Vanuatu
Champagne Bay is located on the north east coastline of Espiritu-Santo, Vanuatu. It is truly breathtaking with the most spectacular stretch of beach fringed with palm trees.
Noumea, New Caledonia
New Caledonia's lush beauty has earned it many names, including "The Island Closest to Paradise" and "The St. Tropez of the Pacific." The poincianas, or flame trees, will color the island with their bright red umbrellas when you visit.
