Homeplace Ranch is a year round working and guest ranch in Alberta’s high cattle country. The main ranch is about 31 miles southwest of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is at an elevation of 4900 feet in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In addition to the ranch property, we also ride on the surrounding several thousand acres of Crown land, most of which is leased for cattle ranching. Bears, deer, coyotes, elk and other wildlife are frequently seen.   A horse is assigned to you when you arrive. Our wranglers will spend time showing you how to become comfortable and work with your mount. If you wish you can come out in the morning to help feed and groom. Riding varies from mountain valleys to high foothills, crossing numerous streams, mountain meadows and old Indian trails. This type of terrain allows you the chance to periodically trot or canter if desired. We have over 40 head of horses to satisfy the expert to novice rider.

Located on 1100 acres of summer pastures with tall pines and breathtaking views of the Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges is the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch. A fourth generation cattle ranch that has been operating on the same land since 1940, the ranch is located in Idaho's scenic Panhandle region, about 16 miles northeast of Sandpoint, Idaho. Roley and Janice Schoonover, and her parents, ranchers Jim and Virginia Wood, have transformed this historic ranch into one of Idaho's quality guest ranches. Horseback riding is the main activity on the ranch. The riding program includes lessons in the arena and daily rides. A typical day will include a two-hour ride in the morning and again in the afternoon. Saddle up for some good ol fashioned fun as you ride along the ridges and valleys. Ride through grazing cattle or sneak a peek at deer, bear, and other wildlife in their native surroundings.
