The Paul Gauguin was designed specifically for sailing French Polynesia year-round. She offers an extension of the informal, relaxing environment of the islands, with Regent Seven Seas Cruises' interpretation of six-star service, comfort and luxury. Spacious staterooms (50% with private balconies), a watersports marina, a choice of three single seating dining venues and an extensive spa are among her six-star attributes. The atmosphere aboard radiates warmth and informality. And her beloved troupe of Gauguines - part cruise staff, part entertainers, part storytellers, add the unique personality of French
The delightfully informal, unhurried and unregimented way of life of Polynesia is emulated on board. A visit to the ship's Fare Tahiti Gallery, featuring Polynesian art and artifacts, will introduce you to the islands' colorful heritage. The pool invites you to an early morning dip while you can enjoy a full range of complimentary watersports at the state-of-the-art retractable watersports platform.
Guest Lecturers - Each cruise is hosted by a special guest lecturer to provide fascinating insights and a greater understanding of the Polynesian people.
Ambassadors of the Environment - The Ambassadors of the Environment Program is designed to give young people the most fun and enriching experience possible while onboard M/S Paul Gauguin. Young guests take part in games and active excursions in and out of the ocean, watch expedition film presentations, enjoy special dinners with Tahitian hostesses, and other activities. The rich cultural tradition and natural wonders of French Polynesia make it a natural playground and living laboratory where kids can learn and grow without ever imagining they are having an educational experience!
Parents are encouraged to join the excursions. The leaders of this program are naturalists for Jean-Michel Cousteau, with college degrees in the sciences, extensive experience in teaching marine ecology, and most importantly, these guides will share with you and your families the joy and magic of the French Polynesia's coral reefs. The program is offered on select sailings, including summer and holiday voyages.
Watersports Platform - Watersports are a highlight of the Polynesian experience. The ship's small size allows it to navigate in shallow lagoons and narrow channels where larger ships may not sail. With the specially designed retractable watersports platform, guests may descend to sea level where they can conveniently hop aboard a windsurfer, launch a kayak, try a little waterskiing or set out for a SCUBA diving expedition. A scuba certification program is offered on board.

Later on in your cruise, you'll have a chance to learn how to dance in true Polynesian style from our wonderful Gauguines performers.

Dining is unhurried and relaxed - you may enjoy the pleasures of the table without the regimentation of assigned seating or having to rush through your dessert. Complimentary wines are served with dinner, or you may select an alternative vintage available for purchase from the wine cellar. During normal dining hours, you may choose from the restaurants' menus and enjoy dinner in your stateroom or suite. A special 24-hour room service menu is also available.
L'Etoile - Enjoy fine French cuisine with a Polynesian accent amid the classic furnishings and fluted shell lighting reminiscent of one of the refined dining establishments in Paris. Here delectable cuisine is artfully presented and guests receive the most diligent attention.
La Veranda on Paul Gauguin - The French Restaurant inspired by Le Cordon Bleu
In both reality and the popular imagination no other country has approached France in terms of elevating its cuisine to a high art form. In spite of new trends and dietary habits, tradition still plays a major role in the French kitchen.
Le Cordon Bleu Chefs have created a menu for La Veranda not merely to explore the culinary highways and byways of France but to provide you with an extraordinary dining experience that captures the very essence of the country. The menu is artfully assembled to take you on a culinary journey from Provence to the Normandy and from Alsace to the Valley of the Loire. To accommodate our guest's taste buds and health concerns, Le Cordon Bleu created lighter sauces and vegetarian options.
In perhaps no other country in the world does food and wines complement each other as fittingly as they do in France. This symbiotic relationship between the culinary and oenological arts is no mere accident. As wine styles evolved in areas like Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Valley of the Loire, regional cuisine evolved to match them. As our chefs take you on a grand culinary tour of the best of contemporary French cuisine you will have an opportunity to try the complimentary wines that make such a harmonious match with dishes.
Dinner reservations are required in La Veranda.
Le Grill - Greet the sun with a buffet breakfast at Le Grill. Or enjoy lunch by the pool on a choice of grilled favorites, salads and fresh tropical fruits. At night Le Grill is transformed into a cozy indoor/outdoor restaurant serving grilled specialties in a more casual atmosphere.
