How it Works:
Step 1 CHACT Agreement
Resort enters a marketing agreement with Caribbean Hotel Association Charitable Trust (further noted as CHACT) and commits in part to an annual allotment of room nights for the regional marketing Campaign known as "Life needs the Caribbean".
Step 2 Room Night Distribution
The room night commitment is forwarded to SkyAuction.com, an Internet travel auction site, for distribution via the auction format.
Step 3 Offer Creation
SkyAuction.com creates an auction based on the resort offering in one of the following formats:
a) Hotel Only. This offer, called a "Bid Per Night" auction, has the customer bidding for a nightly rate. The winner chooses the number of nights selected, within a nightly parameter.
b)Packages. SkyAuction.com can package the properties with airfare from the US.
The resort has the right to have their property and/or room night allotment represented according to the following parameters:
a) Hotel only, Packages only, or both
c) Black-out dates, if any
d) Minimum length of stay, if any
f) Text and or graphics used in the auction description. Currently all text and graphics are taken directly from the resort web pages, however we can use other materials if preferred.
Step 4 Auction Bidding
All auctions begin at $1 with no reserve. The highest bidder(s) at the end of the auction wins.
While all opening bids start at $1, it would be essential to note that most bidding takes place within the closing hour. Please note that there are tax and service charges in each auction to protect the pricing. For example a "Bid Per Night" auction beginning at $1, has a tax and service charge of $32 assessed, making the real "starting" bid $32 per night. A package has a tax and service charge of $149 - $195, depending on the number of nights, making the “starting” bid $150 - $196. |
